RE: experiments. The Tuskegee syphilis experiments carried out on non-white mental patients in the US were stopped in the US only after an investigation in 1972. Remember also that lobotomies continued to be performed well into the later sixties despite being based on nonsense science. I read Pierce's book recently and found the experiments described wholly credible.

I'd agree that the future utopia described is compelling both in its apparent achievability and sustainability, as well as its carefully described flaws. It's a compelling piece of work.
